  1. Breakfast should be the largest meal of the day and it should provide at least one- fourth of the day’s calories.
  2. Salad should be consumed a little before the main meal as it is rich in fibre and gives a feeling of fullness.
  3. Rather than starving yourself and eating subsequently it is advised to maintain proper meal timings.
  4. Avoid deep fried foods and prefer steamed, boiled, baked or low fat foods. For example: have boiled potatoes rather than having fried chips and fried mixtures may be replaced by roasted ones.
  5. Use non- stick pan or vessels to cut down the use of cooking oil.
  6. Do not sieve wheat flour as it reduces the nutrient and the fibre.
