URINE ANALYSIS

What is it?
On many occasions, a routine urine test may pick up a hitherto unknown diagnosis or may help confirm a clinical suspicion.. Essentially urine analysis is done to check presence of sugar, proteins, blood or some cells and bacteria which normally are not found.

Why is it done?
Sugar (glucose) in the urine may indicate the presence of diabetes; red blood cells may signal a disorder of the kidneys, ureter or bladder, while bile suggests liver disease.

When is it done?
It is done as a part of routine check-up or when recommended by the doctor.
