When is it done?
Lipid management is required when the lipid values fall outside the optimal range. The optimal range of lipids is as follows:

Total cholesterol 150-180 mg/dl.
Triglycerides Less than 150 mg/dl.
HDL cholesterol More than 45 mg/dl. (males)
More than 55 mg/dl. (females)
LDL cholesterol Less than 100 mg/dl.
VLDL cholesterol Less than 28 mg/dl.
